Product overview
Testing coarse, large-grained aggregate usually means multiple passes through round test sieves.
Ask anyone who’s spent time in an aggregate lab and they’ll tell you BDHME’s screen shakers have been part of the furniture for decades. There’s a reason for that. The tray area on these units is a good deal bigger than what you get with round test sieves, so a single run splits a coarse, large-grained sample into six or seven fractions instead of forcing multiple passes. That means faster gradations without giving up any accuracy. Different materials require different setups, and this lineup is very versatile.
- Our standard Testing Screens handle particle size work on big samples of aggregate, slag, ore, and similar coarse materials, spanning sizes from 4 in (101 mm) down to No. 4 (4.75 mm). Walk into almost any aggregate lab and you’ll probably spot one of these aggregate screen shakers already in use.
- The Test-Master line builds on that standard design. It adds an integrated hopper so feeding sample material in doesn’t require much thought, along with a counterbalanced drive that keeps the whole thing running quietly instead of rattling the room. Because it uses the same screen trays as the standard model, moving between the two setups is a non-issue.
- For teams that need something lighter and easier to move around, our Porta-Screens fill that role. They’re built for quality control at asphalt and ready mix plants, covering a range from 2 in (50.8 mm) down to No. 16 (1.18 mm) and No. 200 (75 µm). Beyond construction aggregates, they hold up well for separating other material types too, especially when space or setup time is tight.
- Continuous-Flow Screens take a different approach. Their chute-end trays sit at a slight incline, so instead of testing in discrete batches, material keeps moving through the system. That makes them a better fit for production work than for formal testing, and they’re genuinely useful for small-scale scalping, larger mass separations, and continuous feed jobs involving coarser material.
- The Rocker Screen Frame and Pan keeps things simple: one screen at a time, agitated by hand. It’s built around a 12 in (304.8 mm) square steel frame with solid handles for rocking or hauling it wherever it’s needed, and it works with interchangeable wire cloth squares plus its own bottom pan. No power required, just a straightforward manual setup.
- At the top of the lineup, our Automated Screening Assemblies are built for volume. They ship with hoppers and feeders built in, processing total sample volumes as high as 10.5 ft³ (0.3 m³) with individual batch sizes between 1 and 3 ft³ (0.03 to 0.08 m³). A tilt mechanism handles the emptying of 24 x 24 in (610 x 610 mm) trays into receivers, either semi-automatically or fully hands-off, so fractions are ready for weighing with minimal manual work. These aggregate screen shakers are meant to slot into a larger automated quality control system, handling material sizes up to 6 in (152 mm).
