Product overview

The iPM is a best-in-class precision AQ monitor that applies light scatter and light extinction to simultaneously measure PM1, PM2.5, PM4 and PM10.

Turnkey’s new iPM instrument combines light extinction and light scatter to accurately analyze individual airborne particles. This means it can measure all PM size fractions at once, with a high degree of accuracy. Unlike fan-based samplers, iPM uses a true pump, an air filter and a flow controller to keep the sample flow steady. It also recycles clean air internally, which contributes to shielding its optics from dust and soil accumulation with time.

The pump itself is built to last. It runs on an ultrasonic mechanism, so it’s virtually silent, and its long life means less maintenance down the line. The filter capsule is interchangeable, so you can swap it out and send it off for material analysis of the collected dust whenever needed. For damp or misty conditions, the iPM includes a temperature-controlled heated inlet that removes water droplets before they can throw off your readings. You can set your own sample temperature, or if you’ve got an ambient temperature and humidity probe fitted, the system can hold the sample flow at a constant humidity level instead. The iPM is MCERTS approved for both PM2.5 and PM10 measurements.

Now you can add gas pollution monitoring to your iPMplus with the new iGASpod plugin. It measures PM10, PM4 (respirable), PM2.5, and PM1 all at the same time, giving you a fuller picture of what’s in the air.

  • A built-in particle spectrometer that captures particle size distribution across a wide range, from 0.2 to 10 microns
  • Detection down to just 0.2 micron in particle diameter
  • Adjustable inlet heating, so you can set a fixed sample temperature or hold a constant relative humidity, whichever suits your monitoring needs
  • Well suited to picking up diesel fumes and wood smoke
  • A rugged build designed to hold up on construction sites
  • Detection up to 15 microns at the upper end
  • IoT compatible, with readings that can be pushed or polled as needed
  • Easy control and monitoring through AirQWeb.com or the AirQApp, available on Android and Apple
  • An interchangeable GF/B filter capsule
  • An ultra-quiet ultrasonic pump, running under 30 dBA
  • A built-in sample flow controller
  • Calibration using mono-disperse spheres for reliable accuracy
  • Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity built right in
  • A built-in mains power supply along with Wi-Fi and 4G/5G modem
  • The flexibility to run off-grid with wind or solar power

The iPM uses a laser and a light detector to calculate the extent to which the airborne particles scatter light, enabling it to accurately size and count individual PM1, PM2.5, PM10, and TSP particles. Through a heated inlet, a pump draws air samples in, and that heating step is important as it prevents water droplets from being identified as dust particles in the measurements.
